A "Decent" August 2012

"Decent", that's the word I've been using a lot lately to describe how my life has been. Life has been pretty decent. Here's a run down of some of the things that has occurred in my life during this month..

Freelance Work
Dr. Ramirez, my former professor in UA&P offered me another project to do... Two more projects actually, but the other one's still pending. This time, I'm doing research work and I'm working with a team... It has been quite a challenge, but I do enjoy it at the same time, coz I'm learning from it. Not to mention the team I'm working with are very interesting. We've only met up twice to discuss and brainstorm on our project, and I am just amazed at how they analyze the sources. I never really thought I'd be interested in doing research. Guess this is something I can also look into someday.

Love Cafe
I got to act for Viare again,  thanks to Angel Yulo. The show's called Love Cafe. It's what they call a "cycle of four coffee shop style plays on personal relationships." All plays were written by five-time Palanca Awardee, Sir Joem Antonio.... Brilliant man. The plot of the plays aren't all that complicated. They're actually a reflection of things that we often encounter, but I guess it's also stuff we don't take time to think about. He based it his scripts on C.S. Lewis' Four Loves (which I have yet to read). Anyway, we've been showing it since June, but we've only officially staged it this August. So I've been going to school every Saturday, and every other Friday. I was partnered with Angelo, and the theme of our play was on Affection, so it's not very heavy. I played the role of an eccentric health conscious girl, named Sophie, who tries to control her friend, Will's diet. It's been fun. It's been fun hanging out and getting to know the whole cast Love Cafe.

There's "Katman", who IS ALSO a Batman fan, and a comic reader, who shares the same sentiments I do when it  comes to reading and purchasing comics (we mostly borrow from more hardcore fans, haha). She plays the role of a comic illustrator, so she wears these really cool superhero t-shirts... And she has told me where I can get them, but I think it's suppose to be a secret, so I shall not tell, haha. Of course there's Angelo, my partner in the play, who always has food in his place whenever we'd practice, and never fails to make me laugh. Of course I can't laugh while we're performing, but it has made practice quite fun. As much as I'd love to mention everyone here, I'm afraid I'll have to cut this short, because I'm starting to get lazy, haha. To end, I'm just glad I was a part of this. Our last show is this Wednesday at 7pm, August 29th. Many thanks to those who watched!

Lady's Growth Group
Arguably called, Gospel Gals. Guhhh, I dislike the name, but it's not yet official, so I'm hoping we could get a BETTER name for it. Anyway, I've wanted an all girls' growth group for quite a while. I started asking people around, and turns out that a lot of ladies want the same thing. It was just really a matter of someone initiating it, and making it happen. So I "teamed up" with Sjay on this, since I've been seeing her a lot during the summer, and we work well together. Then we started praying about it, discussed what we want to happen in the growth group, and scheduled a day. If I'm not corrected, we started around June with just four ladies. Next thing we knew, we just kept on growing, and people started coming in. SO PRAISE GOD.  So far, we're 12 in total, and on a regular basis, 6-8 ladies attend every Tuesday night. Not to mention, we also got Tita Bebet as our mentor.

Applying for Gradschool
I applied for a master's in English in Ateneo and UP. Thanks to Luigi, Jam, and Oliver for keeping me company the week I was applying. I didn't really want to do that alone, so thanks a bunch! And We'll see how the application goes, lalala...

The Rainy Week
I guess the rainy week came as a surprise for a lot of us. It doesn't flood in our place, but since most of the areas were flooded, my brother and my dad spent most of their week at home, so it was fun having them around.

A few days after the long hard rain, I decided to go to GCF  to see if I could help out with packing the relief goods. I also got to help deliver some of the goods at GCF Sta. Rosa the following day.

Homebound
I've been home a lot lately, trying to balance my time between working and reviewing for my exam. So I've been noticing some of the weird things that happen at home, haha. Our neighbor's got this fighting rooster. Every afternoon, it goes to our "yard" (not really, but you have to know my house to understand), then just jumps back to their yard. I took some pictures of it. It was pretty big... And scary, haha.

 Ima be Ninaaaaang
This would have to be one of my highlights... Tita Richelle asked me if I would be willing to be Yakob's (her son) ninang (godmother), and I said yessss. Could you believe that? COULD YOU BELIEVE THAT? I know there have been quiet a few who have become ninangs and ninongs at my age, just never thought and expected that I'd be one of them. I just feel really honored, and God just has His ways of giving some things we don't even ask for :) Excited, and nervous, but ultimately thankful. Who would have thought, I told Tita Richelle, that I'd be a ninang at this confusing and "soul-searching" age, haha.

"Greek"
Lastly, I've been watching Greek on Starworld. I'm hooked. I like it. It's shallow, but I find it amusing, so leave me alone, haha. The characters are pretty interesting too. And I am currently in love with Scott Michael Foster.

And that's generally how my month has been... Decent.
